The Embassy in Brussels is looking for a locally employed academic trade advisor as of 1 April 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter.

As our new colleague in the Trade Department of the EU Representation and the Danish Embassy in Belgium, you will both participate in the Representations’ work for Danish industry interests in the EU and promote exports to Belgium. You will have daily contact with some of the largest companies in Denmark, the Danish central administration and the EU system.

The Trade Department performs tasks for Danish companies from various industries. As our new colleague, you will focus on the energy sector in general and the EU Energy Union in particular. This will include that you act as a coordinator of strategic high-profile projects for the Danish industry. This position combines both political and business dimensions and knowledge of both is an advantage.

You will work as a commercial case worker and be part of the Corporate Public Affairs team. You will assist the Corporate Public Affairs team to reach its financial income target, and the position has a personal income target too, in accordance with the provisions of the Trade Council’s services.

Successful applicants must have a relevant university degree and preferably at least 3-5 years of relevant professional experience. Political understanding and a thorough knowledge of the EU and Danish strongholds in the corporate area are strong advantages. Knowledge of the Danish energy industry will be an advantage.. Applicants must be collaborative, outgoing, good at networking and able to work independently. Flexibility is required, including a will to help colleagues carrying out other cross-cutting work at the embassy when needed. Applicants are expected to be fluent in English and Danish.

The salary will be calculated on the basis of qualifications and experience.
