The Trade Council at The Permanent Representation of Denmark to the EU and The Royal Danish Embassy in Brussels is looking for a result oriented and dynamic Commercial Advisor (local staff)

Position: Commercial Advisor.
Type of employment: Full time employment on a local contract.
Starting date: 1 June 2019.
Location: Embassy of Denmark in Belgium, Brussels.

The Trade Council in Brussels is seeking to recruit a result oriented and dynamic Commercial Advisor with a sector profile in tech, design, water & environment or other sectors with strong Danish competences and export potential. The position will cover bilateral trade activities and EU related Public Affairs activities.

The Trade Council region in which you will operate cares for the commercial interests of Denmark in the Benelux countries. As commercial counsellor, you will be involved in providing support and advice to Danish companies, from SMEs to global players, in all three countries. The Trade Council in Brussels engages heavily in Public Affairs activities on a number of EU files. This entails regular contact to some of the largest Danish companies, several branches of the Danish Government and the different institutions of the EU. A core task will be to increase the Trade Council’s Public Affairs activities in the sector of your specialty.

The Commercial Advisor will join a strong and ambitious commercial team focusing on creating value for Danish companies and implementing the Danish Government Strategy for Economic Diplomacy.  There is significant demand for the services provided by the Danish Trade Council and the job comprises direct interaction with large Danish companies as well as SME’s to assist them in achieving commercial success. In-depth knowledge and expertise in one or more sectors will be an advantage just as will be experience with Government and Public Affairs and strong knowledge of the EU decision-making processes. The position requires travel in the Benelux countries and Denmark.

The position demands a flexible approach and you should thus be ready to contribute to handling
tasks outside your own array of sectors.

Required qualifications

•  Academic degree in European Studies, Political Science, Business, Economics, International Relations or similar.
• Minimum 3 years of experience from a government related institution, international company
or similar.
• Professional experience within a sector e.g. Tech, food & agriculture, water & environment.
• Knowledge or experience regarding the Benelux Region, Denmark, and EU would be an asset.
• A positive, open-minded, pro-active, results-oriented and energetic attitude to handling of
assignments.
• A structured mind-set and excellent planning and coordination skills.
• Excellent command of English oral and written is essential.
• Comprehensive command of Dutch and/or French (oral and written) is a strong advantage.
• IT proficiency and solid skills regarding the Microsoft Office program.
• Great interpersonal skills and team player abilities as well as interest in and willingness to
share knowledge with – and learn from – colleagues.
• Ability to foster and maintain networks.

Employment conditions
