BIKE EXPERIENCE
Årligt cykel-event i Bruxelles:
Conditions : Applicants, who use a car for their daily journeys, agree to leave their car and use a bike instead during the two weeks of Bike Experience. The journeys concerned must be at least those from home to the workplace. Applicants will participate in the information/training day at the BIP on Saturday 30 April or Sunday 1 May.

Applicants must know how to ride a bike (as a minimum: have good balance and ride in a straight line).

Deadline for registration: 31 March 2011 before midnight.

HISTORISK OPTOG: MEYBOOM
Den ældste folkore tradition i Belgien, som finder sted hvert år i Bruxelles d. 9. august siden år 1311.
Plantning af Meyboom - Maj Træet også kaldet Glædens Træ. Traditionen er, at træet skal plantes inden kl. 17 på hjørnet af rue du Marais og rue des Sables.

"Traditionally, the companions crossbowmen of Saint-Laurent have been allowed to erect a May tree (the "Meyboom" also known as the tree of joy ) at the instersection of two streets ( "rue du Marais" and "rue des Sables") as a reward of feat of arms in the 14th century. This erection always take place on the 9th of August, on Saint-Laurent's eve, before 5 p.m. (otherwise this honour would be lost and given to the people of Leuven) after a procession through the streets of the heart of the city, complete with brass band, giant puppets, ..."
